The alexandrite laser utilizes an alexandrite crystal to emit light at a precise wavelength of 755 nm in the infrared spectrum, classifying it within the red-light range. These lasers can also operate in Q-switched mode. Primarily utilized in dermatology, alexandrite lasers play a crucial role in procedures like hair removal, tattoo removal, and the treatment of visible leg veins and pigmented lesions. 

For hair removal, the long-pulse laser emits light readily absorbed by hair shafts, generating heat that damages both the shafts and surrounding hair follicles through selective photo thermolysis.
