therapy where the diseased blood component is removed while the healthy blood component is returned back into the circulation of the patient. Additionally, this procedure can also be used for the purpose of stem cell harvesting.

It is commonly used for severe rheumatoid arthritis, Goodpasture syndrome, leukostasis, systemic lupus, and others.
